What the badge means — and what it doesn't
The badge is a promise Orca makes to brands: this creator's audience data is first-party, and a human has reviewed the account. That promise is why verified creators get matched into campaigns — a brand planning spend needs numbers it can trust and a counterpart who will deliver.
What the badge is not: a course certificate. Working through this academy is tracked as its own separate signal once you're on Orca — it never earns the badge, and skipping it never blocks the badge. Verification is about your data and your track record, full stop.
Half one: connect your account
You connect your primary platform — YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, or X — through the platform's official login (OAuth). Orca never asks for your password and never scrapes.
- Brands see verified aggregate numbers — reach, audience composition, engagement. Never your login, DMs, or private data.
- Connected data is what makes fair pricing possible: your rate benchmark and campaign predictions are built from measured numbers (Modules 3 and 5). Without a connected account, Orca cannot price or predict for you — which is why connection is half of verification.
- You can disconnect at any time.
If connecting feels like a risk, ask what that instinct is protecting. Creators with real audiences connect without friction — first-party data is their strongest sales asset. The creators hurt by measured numbers are the ones whose claimed numbers were the product.
Half two: pass vetting
A human reviews every application. The review looks at the account you connected: that your content sits in or near the tech wedge — AI, SaaS, dev tools, startups, tech-adjacent business — that your audience is real and consistent with the market you claim, and that your delivery record doesn't raise flags. There is no minimum follower count; a small account with a dense, genuine audience passes where a large account with a purchased one does not.
The exact authenticity checks aren't published — publishing them would be a how-to for gaming them. What you control is simple: real audience, real engagement, content in the wedge. If that describes you, vetting is a formality; a person reviews every application, and you'll hear from us when we launch.
The five steps, in order
- 1Apply at tryorca.io/creators/apply — free, and it stays free. Orca's fee is charged to brands on top of your rate, never out of it.
- 2Verify your identity — payouts and TDS handling need to know who they're paying (your Form 16A depends on it).
- 3Connect your primary social account via the platform's official login.
- 4Set your rates per placement type — bring the floor/target/stretch numbers from Module 3. Your rate card plus Orca's fair-value benchmark is what brands see.
- 5Pick your categories, then wait for the vetting review — you'll hear from us when we launch. Once you pass, you're verified and matchable.
After the badge
Offers arrive pre-priced and pre-briefed; you accept, counter, or decline, and declining never affects your ranking. From there, everything in this academy compounds: delivering on brief and on time builds your reliability score, performance keeps your benchmark honest, and both bring the next offer. The badge opens the door — Modules 1 through 5 are what keep you booked.
